Dear Hyde Park Families,
Welcome to the 2022-23 school year. We hope you have had an amazing summer filled with fun, laughter, relaxation, and valuable time spent with your family. We are excited to welcome students back for their first day of school on Thursday, August 11. We also invite all families to visit school during our Meet and Greet event on Wednesday, August 10. You can attend any time between 4:00-5:30pm. The purpose of the Meet and Greet is to meet your child’s teacher, drop off school supplies, and hopefully alleviate any first day jitters your child may have. Below is a breakdown of our daily schedule:
- 8:00 am - breakfast begins. Students should not arrive before 8:00am.
- 8:20 am - Students enter classrooms
- 8:30 am - Instruction begins / tardy bell
- 12:00-12:40 pm - Lunch / recess
- 3:03 pm - Student dismissal
We appreciate your cooperation with these steps to make sure we have a safe and successful experience this school year:
- Attendance: Students are expected to be on time, every day unless they are sick or if there is a family emergency. Please communicate with the office (224-303-1970) and their teacher if your child will be absent for any reason.
- Breakfast is an important way to begin the day and is available to all students at no cost. Students eating breakfast at school should arrive no later than 8:10am so they do not miss any instruction.
- Students should arrive prepared everyday with clean clothes, a backpack, their chromebook ()charged, and all necessary materials and school supplies. Click HERE for the supply list.
- Please check in with your student daily to remind them to complete their homework and talk to them about how their day went.
Hyde Park will have additional early release days this school year on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month. School will dismiss at 1:03pm on early release days. This will allow teachers and staff time to collaborate and plan meaningful instruction aligned to our district language arts curriculum and to engage in meaningful professional development.
We hope you are looking forward to another great school year.
Sincerely,
Mr. Carr and Mrs. LaShelle
